About this Faculty

Faculty of Agro Industry and Natural Resources (FASA) is one of the faculties established together with the establishment of UMK. The faculty was planned in line with the 9th Malaysian Plan and the 2nd and 3rd National Agriculture Policy (DPN2-2010) which focuses on the development of agro based industries. The aim is to exploit the agricultural sector for the generation of the country´s economy. Consequently industrial development based on agriculture has become one of the priorities in making the entrepreneurship programme a success. This is also in line with the National Biotechnology Policy based on the 9 thrusts that are related to the generation of industries and the commercialization of agro based products and the enhancement of food production. The Faculty emphasizes on the importance of natural resources as an important component in generating the economy. In addition, the exploitation and management of natural resources are given serious attention.

In the name of Allah, Most Merciful, and with his almighty Help, FASA successfully undergone the first anniversary with numerous achievements and today FASA is known throughout the country. Although struggling to overcome challenges in ensuring that the faculty will be comparable to other public institutions in the country, the achievements so far indicated that FASA has a bright future ahead. With continuous effort and support from the university and students, FASA will continue to carve fame in higher education in the country. FASA is unique and will always ensure that it is relevant to the society and country. FASA emphasizes on strengthening agricultural based industries, and the conservation of the environment and natural resources based on the concept of sustainable development.

Fakulti Agro Industri dan Sumber Asli (FASA) merupakan PTj yang pertama meraih Anugerah Kualiti Naib Canselor (AKNC) dalam Majlis Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC) dan Anugerah Gemilang Universiti (AGU) 2009 di Dewan Tebuka Keusahawanan, UMK, pada 9 Jun 2010, yang turut dihadiri Ketua Setiausaha Negara, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.
